Statement
If an entire symphony was in crescendo, it would be difficult to appreciate said crescendo. A more gripping and complete musical number holds contrast; hard and soft, vibrant and muted, weak and strong. Each object is a composition of married colors, forms, and materials, chosen through an intuitive process of play and discovery. I focus on each until these elements seamlessly coexist, birthed into a more dynamic object than if these elements were presented apart. This reflects my belief that the coexistence of contrasting notions is necessary for a more profound perception of logic and reality.
The work correlates with time. I make formal choices based from past work and experiences along with new ideas that occur in the present. With every piece comes new understanding about my process, ultimately acting as a visual chronological archive, documenting where I was and informing me of where I will go.
